“Begin with the end in mind.” – Dr. Stephen Covey

When Lena Ross and I first started the Agile Change Leadership Institute and
launched the Agile Change Leadership Certificate, that’s exactly what we did. We
designed a course to help leaders thrive at the front of continuous change and agility.

And the feedback has been terrific. Leaders consistently tell us the certificate
changed how they approach transformation. But often there’s been a wistful follow-
up:

“What about our managers and leaders who have no exposure to change (or change
management)? What do we do for them?”

Until now, we didn’t have the answer.

Going Back to the Beginning

With Change Leader: The Basics, we’ve gone back to the foundations of what it
means to lead change.

We created this program for the leaders in the messy middle—time-poor,
sandwiched between employee expectations and senior leader demands, often
juggling business-as-usual while being asked to deliver change.

They don’t have months to spend on long programs. They need practical tools, quick
wins, and a shared language for leading people through uncertainty.

If you’re a Head of Change, People, Learning, or Talent Development about to spend
months creating something bespoke for this cohort, you might want to pause. We
could make your life much easier.

The Pain Points We’re Solving

Emerging and middle managers often struggle with:

  • Feeling unprepared for the human side of change
  • Knowing how to respond to resistance or disengagement
  • Balancing BAU with transformation initiatives
  • Leading confidently when they themselves feel uncertain
  • Burnout from being stuck between strategy and execution

Change Leader: The Basics addresses these challenges head-on with brain-
friendly, bite-sized lessons designed for busy leaders.

What the Course Covers

The course consists of 16 short clips (about 1.5 hours total) covering the
essentials of change leadership, including:

  • The role of a change leader and the qualities that matter
  • Change curves and common change agendas
  • How to lead when people are emotional, resistant, or disengaged
  • Navigating culture, DEI, and digital disruption
  • Leading through uncertainty—or when you don’t even believe in the change
  • The hard stuff: downsizing and crisis
  • Leader self-care and sustaining resilience

Each lesson is practical, grounded in decades of real-world experience, and focused
on immediate application.

The Resources Leaders Get

Beyond the micro-lessons, leaders also receive:

  • Downloadable tools, worksheets, and infographics
  • A Quick Start Guide with 71 practical actions
  • The Change Leader Playbook
  • Copies of Change. Leader and Conversations of Change
  • A digital badge for recognition and visibility
  • A facilitator’s guide for peer debriefs and coaching conversations
  • For teams, we provide a Cohort Learning Guide—ensuring leaders don’t just learn individually, but together.

8 Ways to Use It in Teams

Teachable Banner (5)

This isn’t just another e-learning course sitting in the LMS. We’ve mapped out 8
different ways to bring the lessons to life:

  1. Start weekly meetings with a 5-minute clip and short debrief
  2. Embed into formal leadership development programs
  3. Use at team offsites or retreats as conversation starters
  4. Onboard new leaders into change projects
  5. Support coaching sessions with lesson prompts
  6. Run peer learning circles
  7. Position it as a micro-learning library for self-directed access
  8. Turn to it as a crisis toolkit when sudden change hits
